Sophie's Birthday Party!

Not too long ago, we got to celebrate this little cutie's first birthday!

We invited over all of her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She started things off by showing off her walking skills....

After a yummy dinner of soup, salad, and rolls, we opened presents. I was immediately swarmed by children, eager to help!

While looking through all of the pictures that were taken, I found a lot like this...

As you can see, while everyone else was too involved in opening presents to notice that their picture was being taken, sweet little Tyler was cheesing it up for the camera. In a lot of the pictures, he would be the only one smiling! That is, until he discovered how soft Sophie's pillow pet was. Then he was a bit too preoccupied to notice the camera...

Thank you to everyone, Sophie loves all of her gifts!

After presents, we had cake!
Jonny and I spent pretty much all day making this thing. Unfortunately, we were short on time and I had to pipe on the frosting 5 minutes before the party. I was so rushed, that it turned out awful. I'm so mad I didn't take just 2 more minutes to make it look good!

Oh well. Try to ignore the embarrasing piping job, and just look at the rest of the cake :)

Sophie loved it so much, she did a little dance in her daddy's arms!

She powered through that cake, and ate a ton!

And even though she threw up after (which I felt bad about), she enjoyed every last bite :)

After cake, she was ready for everyone to leave. She was collapsed in Jonny's arms, waving them all out the door with a half-hearted flick of her arm. She wouldn't even lift her head or crack a smile. It was pretty funny to watch :)

All in all, I think it was a great birthday. We all had a lot of fun!

Sophie - One Year!

I'll spare you my bittersweet feelings of having a one-year-old, but know that this came way too soon! Soph has grown into a beautiful little girl, and I love her to death. The past year has been the best of my life.
Here is a bit of info about the birthday girl...

4 - The number of days it took her to learn to walk... she's a pro now!

1 - The number of times per day that we climb into bed and pull the blankets over our heads and have tickle wars

2 - The number of times I've had to dig food out of her throat because she was choking

2 - The number of times I've cried hysterically after finally getting my baby to breathe again

42 - The number of times per day she puts a dish towel on her head and crawls around with it

7 - The number of teeth she has

3 - The number of words that she knows (mama, dada, no-no)

2 - The minimum number of times per day Sophie squeals. When we're driving, she knows the difference between stopping at a red light (or stopping for any other reason) and parking. Every time we park the car she squeals with glee, knowing she gets to get out of her car seat :)

6 - The number of symphonies she composes per day on her piano

1 - The number of meltdowns she has each day as she watches her dad leave for school

17 - The number of kitchen utensils she thinks are her own toys

1,000,000 - The number of times she makes me smile each day

Here are her 11 month pictures...

And her 1 year pictures...

Back to Logan!

After what seemed like ages, we finally made it back to Logan.

Soph never sleeps in our arms anymore. She was so wiped out from the trip though, she slept in my arms multiple times, and I definitely took advantage of the snuggles!

Ever since we've been home Sophie has been enjoying all of her presents. Of course, her favorites are the things other people got her. She spends most of her time kissing her leap frog toy and playing her piano.

Here she is, reading her new book from Kristen and Isaac. She loves to carry the little animals with her everywhere she goes...

And here she is with her piano...

She plays with this thing all day long, it is so cute. The other day we stripped her down in the living room to check out a rash she had, and she wriggled out of my arms and B-lined it straight to the piano...

Jonny and I got her a play pen that I got during Black Friday. She was terrified of it :(

I tried going in with her, but it didn't help much.

Jonny and I actually use it more than she does! We have competitions to see who can make the most shots into the blue hoop at the top (I always lose). Maybe when she's a little older she'll like the blow-up thing, but for now we just make a mess and play with the balls :)

Christmas Break - Seattle

This Christmas was awesome - we went up to Seattle to be with Jonny's sister Kristen and her cute little family. It was quite the drive up there! We drove with Jonny's parents and left at 3 am so Sophie would be asleep for as much of it as possible. Lucky for us, she is a champ in the car and didn't cry once!

I was so glad she had her leap frog toy, it occupied her attention for hours!

Kristen and Isaac live in Auburn, which is where I decided I want to live :) It was beautiful and the weather was perfect. I don't like a lot of heat, and while I don't hate the cold, I definitely prefer cool/mild weather. I also love rain, so I think Washington and I are a match made in heaven. And Auburn was just a picture perfect place, in my opinion, so we will definitely be looking for jobs up there! (plus, that's where Kristen and Isaac live, so that's reason enough to want to live there!)

Anyways, we had a great time. They took us to see the "blue house"

Crazy, huh??

On Christmas Eve we had cheese fondue, which I swear, gets better and better each year. It was delicious!

I was so excited for Christmas this year, because of Sophie. She's still too young to understand what was going on, but we had fun anyway :)

Here she is, going through her stocking...

She loves those little books, and carries them around the house with her..

Jonny and I enjoyed our stockings as well...

Soph had no interest whatsoever in opening the presents. At least she enjoyed them afterwards!

Her cousins, on the other hand, were seasoned pros...

Of course, we had to stop for a bottle break...

Then went back to work on the presents...

Eli gave Sophie some piano lessons to show her how her new toy worked :)

On the last day we were there (Monday) we drove into Seattle. We made a quick stop at Pike's Place...

It was fun to see them throw the fish around!

One of the main reasons we went into the city was to go to Red Mill Burgers, which was featured on Man vs. Food. Unfortunately, they are closed on Mondays! We still had fun though, and it made me want to live in WA even more!

It was such a great Christmas! We love the Lind family and had a great time with them :)

Oh, and here is a video of Sophie singing in the car. Adorable.
