January/February

After a loooong Christmas break, we finally made it back to Logan.
Someone (who shall remain nameless) decided it would be a good idea to turn off the thermostat before we left. I'm not sure why this seemed like a good idea, but we'll blame it on "pregnancy brain." And, now you know it was me....

Needless to say, our place was freezing.

We cranked up the heat, bundled up Sophie, and carried in our stuff.

We were too cold to do anything so we left the house and ran errands for a couple of hours. By the time we came back the temperature had only raised 2 degrees :( It took about 36 hours to get back to normal!

In Jan/Feb it was still too cold to spend much time outside so we had to come up with ways to entertain Sophie. One of her favorites was to film little videos of herself and then watch them. She laughs and laughs at them like she is the funniest person in the world :)

She also loves being pushed around in a diaper box... We have so many toys, but diaper boxes create some of the best entertainment :)

I really hate Valentine's Day, so we never really do anything for it. I mean, how meaningful is flowers or chocolates when you're only giving them because it's expected? I much prefer when Jonny surprises me with flowers just because he feels like it :)

Well, despite my issues with this holiday, we decided to actually celebrate this year. When life gets so busy with school, work, and a toddler, it's actually nice to set aside a day to focus on each other.

So I made both of my valentines a yummy french toast breakfast I saw on pinterest...

They both loved it!

How lucky am I to have these two??

Adorable. :)

I also made some chocolate-dipped rice krispie treats, which were yummy.

The best part of the day was what we called our "Valentine's Day miracle." I think it just goes to show how perfect Jonny and I are for each other.

We decided to exchange small gifts, and even though I never buy cards, I decided to get him one. He always gets me the super serious/mushy/lovey-dovey cards so I figured I would balance things out by going in the opposite direction.

When I saw a twilight card at the store, I knew it was the one. It just spoke to me.
I even called my sister and told her all about, laughing about how awesome it will be to give it to Jonny.

Imagine my surprise when he ended up getting me the exact same card!

Inside was a personality quiz, and I had written "I took the quiz, I'm Bella!" and he had written "We already know I'm Edward, let's see who you are!" Haha.. we laughed for about 20 minutes. It was priceless.

The day after Valentine's Day was even more special... It was Sophie's 2nd birthday! We had a party that weekend with our families.

Soph is obsessed with the Lorax (we are watching it right now, actually) so I knew I had to do a Lorax themed cake. I think it turned out cute, and she especially loved the cake pops!

Jonny helped me a lot, and he actually decorated the majority of the cake pops. I think he did a great job!

I also made a cupcake to make a little announcement. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it on here before, but everyone knows by now - we are expecting a baby in July! So I told everyone that this cupcake either had pink or blue frosting inside and when Sophie ate it, they would know the gender.

Everyone was so anxious about the cupcake, that we forgot to light a candle (sorry, Soph!)

When everyone saw the blue they all started cheering, and Soph loved it. She got so excited and threw her fists in the air, yelling "Yeeeaaah!"

After baby boy had his moment, the attention was back on Soph! She opened her presents, and was very spoiled by her family.

After, it was time for everyone else to have cake. Here is the center of it...

I can't believe I have a 2 year old! We definitely feel blessed. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us :)

Christmas with the Kats family

We spent Christmas day with my family, but we still got to spend plenty of time with Jonny's side.

I was given a bunch of sewing supplies, so I had absolutely everything I needed to sew! It was awesome.

Sophie got Llama Llama Red Pajama, which is one of our favorite books. We read it almost every night!

She made this little crown in nursery and she loved it!

She absolutely adores her cousins - and they're pretty crazy about her too :) Here they are enjoying some cookies...

We were lucky enough to get to spend time with Grandma Landes, who is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. We love her to pieces!

One day (while I was bed-ridden with morning sickness) Jonny took Sophie out to play in the snow. Kory took some great pictures...

Christmas with the Lords family

I was worried about Sophie attacking our little Christmas tree this year, so I made her a tree out of felt to play with...

I imagined her playing with it for hours, rearranging the ornaments to her liking. Of course, though, she played with it for about 5 minutes and never touched it again.

At least she left our tree alone! (for the most part)

Since we spent last Christmas in Seattle with Jonny's family, we spent this year with mine.
I must say, being on the parent side of holidays is even more fun than being a kid! I love planning out presents and surprises for Soph. I love watching her face light up as she opens the gifts I picked out for her.

My Dad took his usual role as the "present-hander-outer", as I like to call it.

I thought Hungry Hungry Hippos would be a big hit, but she won't play it. She's obsessed with the little balls though, and plays with them all the time! I think about 1/2 of them are already missing :(

My parents got J-bear a fly fishing pole, which he was very excited about!

And I got a sewing machine! Wahoo!!

(See the baby belly? It's about 1,962 times bigger now)

Soph loved the golf hat I got for Jonny, and wore it all day long :)

I just couldn't resist a picture here... Don't you love Jonny's sock/boot combo? Our nephews on his side got them for him for Christmas, and he didn't want to take them off :)

We had a wonderful Christmas, and a fantastic break! We spent lots of time with family, and had a great time.
Jackson took Soph on a ride in the jeep. She spent the whole time alternating between smiling/giggling and crying. Just couldn't decide if she liked it or not :)

I think there were a few more smiles than tears though, so I would say it was a success!
