Halloween

Jonny and I have never really done anything for Halloween, but because of Sophie, we decided to dress up and carve pumpkins this year. It was her very first Halloween, after all!

I saw the cutest idea on Pinterest: stick your baby in a pumpkin. Sophie was a good sport about the whole thing. When we first put her in it she immediately started chewing on it, but stopped once she realized how bad it tasted.

Considering the fact that Sophie had missed a nap and was grumpy, and it was really cold outside, and I have ZERO photography skills, I think I got some good ones :)

She caused quite the scene at our complex, people even came out of their apartments to see her :)

Here is Jonny's pumpkin...

And here is mine...

Last year after Halloween, I bought Sophie a spider costume for 85 cents. Yup, 85 cents. I decided Jonny and I would be spider webs so we would all match for our ward Halloween party. Our spider web costumes looked good for the first few minutes, but as time went by they looked worse and worse. At least Soph looked adorable!

She makes this face all the time, you can see it better here...

All in all, I think it was a great Halloween. We had a lot of fun!

8 Months

Here are some updates about Sophie from when she turned 8 months old...

She said her first word on October 12th (the day before Jonny's birthday). It was "dada!" She says it all the time now, as well as babbling "nana" and "yaya" repeatedly :)

She loves dogs. When we go to my parents' house she chases them around, giggling, and they don't scare her at all!

Thank you to Kristen and Isaac for this, she loves it!

She's obsessed with climbing over things. I mean, obsessed. Everytime I sit on the floor with her she claws her way up my body, gets down, then does it again.

When she turned 8 months old she wasn't crawling yet, but would get in crawling position and rock back and forth. She would also hold herself in push-up position.

Sadly, she doesn't sing very much anymore. Pretty much ever since she was born she would sing in this high-pitched voice. It was the cutest thing ever. I would wake up in the morning to the sound of her singing in her crib. Unfortunately she grew out of this :( The only time she does it now is when she gives kisses. I think it's because while she kisses me I say "aawwww" in a high voice, so now she does her sing-song voice while kissing :)

She gets the hiccups when she laughs really hard - without fail :)

She was sooo relaxed in her Grandma Katseanes' arms!

She ate her first graham cracker at Grandma Lords' house and LOVED it!

So, the American Academy of Pediatrics came out and said that bumper pads should be removed from cribs. They said they don't prevent injury, and can cause suffocation.

Well, we tried it out. Within just minutes of putting Sophie down for a nap she started screeching. I ran in to find that her leg had slipped through the bars and she was stuck :( After pulling her out and wiping away the tears, the bumper pads went back up.

I figured if she can still breathe like this...

...then I think she'll be ok.

Don't worry, I unraveled the blanket from her head after I found her...and after snapping a quick picture :)
