One year!

I can't believe it's already here, but it's our 1 year anniversary! The past year has been the BEST and I cannot wait for more to come :) Here's what life looked like for us on December 20, 2008...

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband. I love him so much and am so grateful for how sweet he is to me. Life is good :)

My kitchen is haunted...

It's true. Everything seems to disappear! When we first got married we got 2 sets of silverware. Each set had 4 of everything, so we should have 8 of everything... right? Wrong. About a month after we were married we noticed that we were missing a couple of our little forks. You think we would have noticed that earlier if they were missing from the box, so who knows what happened to them. Then the other day Jonny opened the drawer and goes "woah! Where did all these spoons come from?!" We now have 11 small spoons. We should only have 8. Again, if it came this way, I'm pretty sure it would not have taken a year to see this. It just doesn't make sense!
Also, we have had numerous mixing spoons, measuring spoons, and various other things go missing. It's not like our place is that big. There aren't many places you can lose things. Who knows..

Playing Catch-up!

SO... Jonny and I decided that he would do the next blog post, so he could write about the marathon. And that's why our last post was over 2 months ago... I finally gave up on him and am doing it myself :) Can't blame him though, he's a busy guy!

Back in the beginning of October Jonny ran the St. George marathon along with my brother and sister. I was so proud of them!

Here's Jonny about to cross the finish line!

He did so great. I can only imagine how hard it must be to run a marathon. I actually got really teared up when I was at the finish line watching people cross. It was so emotional! But it really inspired me to run one someday.. There were a lot of couples that crossed the finish line holding hands and that is definitely going to be Jonny and I some day!

Next up: Jonny's birthday. He is 24, I can't believe it! We had a lot of fun. We went out to Olive Garden for dinner..

Opening presents!

Yes, I made him make a wish and blow out the candle. And I definitely put up decorations: crepe paper and balloons!

Let's be honest though, the best part of his birthday was his cake. I let him go through my cookbook and pick anything he wanted. He chose white chocolate fudge torte with raspberry sauce. Not to brag, but it was amazing!!

So, this is kind of old news, but that's what happens when we procrastinate blogging. We are the new managers of our apartment complex!

We even get our own fancy schmancy sign with my number :)

Last but not least, halloween. Jonny worked on halloween night, so we celebrated the night before. We watched a scary movie with some friends, and I made mummy dogs for dinner!

That's pretty much it it for now! Hopefully it won't be 2 months before I blog again..

The New Place (kind of)

This year for football season, we got our all-sports passes with a group of friends. We all decided to tie-dye t-shirts for the games. Mine's on the left, and Jonny's is on the right!

I found the cutest cake pan. It's a giant cupcake! This was my first attempt at it. My future giant cupcakes will be decorated much better!

A few weeks ago, while the family was all here, us girls made recipe boxes. I am not exactly a crafty person, so this was a pretty big deal for me! Painting, mod-podge, stamps, the works...

Here are all of the divider cards. Then on the left is one of the MANY recipe cards I stamped.
Our new(ish) apartment! Ok, so we moved in almost 4 months ago, but I finally took pictures. When we got married housing was scarce so we grabbed whatever we could find, which was a basement apartment in southwest Provo. It was too far from campus to walk, and not to mention pretty old and gross.
So after looking on craigslist for weeks, I found the perfect place! It's clean, cheap, and close to campus!

Jonny just bought me barstools, and I love them! I also love all of the counter space we now have. We had just enough at our old place for our microwave and dish dryer. Yikes! But now I have a place to cook and a dish washer to clean my dishes for me :)
We also now have counter space around the bathroom sink. And a shower with room to move without hitting your elbows :)

Family/Powell

A few weeks ago my siblings came out to Utah and it was a blast! My dad took us all fishing...

So, I'm not exactly the best fisherman. BUT, in addition to the large log I reeled in, I caught a fish! I was the only one who caught anything! But I can't really brag, because it was about 2 inches long. And, I almost fell in reeling it in.. and, I flung the pole around so much I got the fish caught in a tree.. and, I screamed the whole time. oops :) Luckily my wonderful husband came to the rescue!

My beautiful sister and her adorable baby boy Jackson!

Here's my little niece Maddy. Is she not the cutest thing you've EVER seen?
One of our friends has a boat, so we planned a trip to Lake Powell this summer. Although I'm not a big fan of water and it makes me pretty nervous, I had a ton of fun. It's so beautiful there!
The boat was slightly crowded with all 5 couples, so we set up a tent. Here's the boys carrying up the huge mattress. It was pretty fun to watch them jam it into the little tent!I love my silly husband :)

Puppy Fever

I want a puppy. Really really bad. SO, while Jonny is out golfing I am looking up different breeds. I have found my future dog: a lakeland terrier. How cute!

And this is an older one. I love how he looks like he's standing on his toes... and he looks like an old englishman with a beard :)
I'm in love with this dog. The end.

Oh, the festivities...

Well, here's a review of the past week or so.. Jonny and I decided to be spontaneous and have a sleepover in our living room. It was pretty awesome.Being Silly :)

One of the really fun things we did was go to a wedding on July 2nd. One of Jonny's best friends, Chase, got married in the Salt Lake Temple. We went to the sealing, which was amazing. In between the sealing and the reception we had a bit of time on our hands so we went bowling and played frisbee golf in the rain with some friends. It was a blast! Here's a picture of us, a little wet..Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures at the reception. Oops :(

On July 3rd, Jonny and I both had off work and got to spend the whole day together, which almost never happens. We went to the Freedom Festival in Provo...
Jonny got to ride a segway!
Jonny worked on the 4th of July, but not til the afternoon, so we got to go to the parade! Here's BYU's floatAs you can see, we've been having a lot of fun lately. Life is wonderful :)

No More BO!

It's finally here. Tonight is Jonny's last shift at the Brick Oven! (He is there right now, while I am not-so-patiently waiting for him to come home..) Here he is heading off for the last time!

Instead of working at Brick Oven, Jonny will be working for Provo City Water. He started on Monday and really likes it. He's basically just up in the mountains from 6-4:30 everyday doing manual labor. He's already getting nice and tan :) His first day they found a baby deer (fawn..?) and Jonny got to hold it! I'm not gonna lie, deer creep me out a LOT, but it was just a baby and really cute, so I was pretty jealous.
I, on the other hand, am in the middle of finals. I took my health final today, and have one tomorrow as well. My other class ended a few weeks early so I only have 2 finals to take, which is nice. I am now in the process of trying to find a job. It's a lot harder than I thought. Apparently every single place in Provo has already done their hiring for the summer, so I'm kind of struggling :( but it's ok, it'll all work out!
Oh, and I almost forgot! My amazingly talented husband is just that... amazingly talented. He and his dad Kory have been in a few golf tournaments recently and won quite a bit of money! But that's not the best part.. Jonny got a double eagle! (that's 3 shots under par) His name was in the paper and everything. I am a very proud wife :)

Birthday Fun..

So, I probably shouldn't do this, but I had to! I am usually the one who has spaz moments, but Jonny finally had one of his own. We were making omelets and he set the hot pan on a plastic bag. Naturally, the plastic all melted on. This picture is after we peeled just about all of it off, but you can see the leftovers :)

Also, I got a better picture of our little pride and joy, Triton... Cute, huh? He always flares his fins out like that when he gets angry or threatened. BUT, for the first time the other day, we saw something new. I went to work without feeding him, and Jonny thought I had. So, by the time Jonny fed him he was starving. He got so mad when Jonny came up to the bowl that these hidden fins by his face blew up and he continued to blow up at Jonny like that for the next couple of days. Silly fish :)

So, my birthday was on Tuesday, and it was a blast. I went to my parents house over the weekend though, and my brother got me sick :( So instead of going for a hike like Jonny had planned, we went to the movies and saw UP, which was really cute.
The night BEFORE my birthday, I walked home from school (cause Jonny was at work) and I found these beautiful flowers! So thoughtful :)

Jonny's parents took us to Gurus for lunch, SO good! Everyone needs to try their sweet potato fries. They'll change your life.

SO basically, it was the best birthday ever. Jonny bought me an outfit a while ago for my birthday, so I wasn't expecting a gift, but he also got me a dessert cookbook! (A not-so-subtle hint, I believe...) He put a lot of effort into making it a great day, and it was!
