She is the cutest little thing, and we just love her so much :)
We've really been enjoying our summer so far, and Sophie loves to be outside. She loves to collect rocks and dandelions.
This was in front of our apartment in Logan, it was the perfect place for her to play...
And all that playtime calls for some gooood naps!
This girl sure knows how to get in trouble. For example, getting her head stuck in bar stools....
and dumping over boxes of cereal....
And throwing clothes in the tub while I'm showering, flinging food everywhere, emptying the contents of my cupboards, digging through the trash, unrolling entire rolls of toilet paper, and all sorts of other goodies for me to enjoy :) She also took up a lovely hobby of licking the bottoms of people's shoes. Yes, unfortunately you read that correctly. My daughter licks shoes. We had to hide all of the shoes from her so she wouldn't lick them. Gross, right?!
It's a good thing she's cute!
Speaking of cute, she loves to read her books. It's adorable. She pulls them all out and goes through them on by one. Sometimes she likes to be gangsta while she reads her Bible stories...
In March, Jonny got to spend 2 weeks in Europe for a school trip. He spent a week in London, England and a week in Hanover, Germany. Needless to say, I was a little jealous.
Out of all the pictures he took, he was only in about 3% of them (he likes to take pictures of buildings and scenery - aka, the boring stuff :) These are some of the only ones we have of him!
He loved the food in Germany, and even though he was only there for a short time, he gained 9 lbs while he was there! I was shocked. But, then he showed me a picture of one of his meals, and it made a little more sense...
That's a meter long bratwurst, and yes, he ate the whole thing!
This was the first year we really celebrated Easter, and it was a lot of fun. I love being on the "parent" side of holidays - planning fun surprises for your kids is the best!
We were with Jonny's parents for Easter, and woke up to a delicious breakfast and a cute little Easter basket for Soph!
I raided the dollar spot at target to fill her basket, which also came from the dollar spot :) She got bath crayons, bubbles, and a rose that can be bent and molded into shapes. She usually doesn't like the presents I get her, but she loved it! Surprisingly, that weird rose is one of her favorite toys now!
We decided to have an Easter egg hunt after breakfast. The Easter bunny "hid" the eggs all over the backyard (in other words, laid them out in plain view). Sophie liked to pick the eggs up, just like she picks up her rocks.
But also just like her rocks, she did NOT want to let them go, so putting them in the basket didn't seem like an option!
When we tried to take them out of her hands to show her that she could pick up new ones, she did what she does best, and ran away with her tongue hanging out :)
She eventually put 1 or 2 eggs in the basket, but that was it. At least she had fun!
We rushed home afterwards, because we had to speak at church, but I think it was a pretty awesome Easter for her!
As I mentioned in my previous post, our move to Denver was definitely last minute. Jonny was in the middle of finals, so I packed every single box by myself! Jonny snuck a picture of me and Soph taking a break and reading some magazines. I thought it was so cute that she was copying me :)
With a lot of help from some very kind friends, we were able to get all of our junk into a storage unit. Well, almost all. The rest of it is in the apt of our friends who lived above us. They are absolute life savers, and they helped us out so much!
While getting all of this ready, we were trying to find a place to live. We decided not to bring any furniture, and just buy a sofa sleeper off of craigslist when we got there. We eventually found an apt, but it ended up not working out, so we are currently at an extended-stay hotel. When we got to Denver we stayed with my dad's cousin, Jeff, and his family. They were unbelievably nice, and took us in, fed us, and made us feel so welcome.
We went to church with them on Sunday and met a family who asked us to house sit for them for a month, so we'll stay at the hotel for 2 months, then house sit. It all seemed to work out nicely! We are so lucky to have friends and family who help us out so much, because we definitely could not have done all of this without all of them.

He is loving it so far, and is really enjoying the break from school.
The Friday before Mother's Day, Jonny came home from work with an orchid and a book. He said one of the ladies he works with was thinking of me, and went out and bought it for me on her lunch break. How sweet!
My gift from Jonny this year was AMAZING! He surprised me with tickets to Wicked! I was beyond excited. We handed Sophie off to some friends and spent the evening in downtown Denver. We had dinner at a cute little italian restaurant with romantic lighting :) Then we went to the show, which I thought was fantastic. I probably should've watched the Wizard of Oz first though! I've never seen it, so I was a little confused, but luckily Jonny was there to fill in the gaps (I was totally thrown off by the wizard - I couldn't believe all this time I never knew he didn't even have powers!)
